Rules
1) The crew in the bath is to be no more than 2 persons, unless you enter the Multi-crew class.
2) It is compulsory for all crew members to wear life jackets / buoyancy aids. Failure to wear life jackets/buoyancy aids will result in disqualification of the team. Marshals at each end of the course will ensure that all crew members are ‘seaworthy’ for the race and the Marhsals decision in final.
3) All crew members must be able to swim competently and be over the age of 16 years (unless with parental consent).
4) It could be clearly noted that whilst the Organisers maintain a strict control of safety, including the provision of safety/rescue boats containing trained personnel, ALL competitors enter at their own risk and should be aware of the potential hazards of all water sports.
5) The Organisers will not be held liable for any accident, injury, loss or damage occurring during the staging of the Arun Bath Tub Race.
Bath Tub Specifications
- A Bath Tub may be constructed of any material but it must be a Bath Tub.
- It must sit in the water with the bottom exposed, and be physically propelled by both members of the crew.
- Additional flotation or additions to the bath are allowed as long as they are not taken from part of any purpose built marine craft, and (except Oversize entries) the overall dimensions of the completed vessel do not exceed:
- Width: 6 Feet. Length: 8 Feet.
- All bathtubs must have a bright, preferably florescent, float bearing the entry number on a 30ft line which must be securely attached to the bath. This is to locate the bath tub should it capsize or sink!
- These rules should make entries for the Adur race eligible for the Arun Bath Tub Race.
Display of Team Entry Numbers
These will be issued when entry forms and fees are received.
Checks will be made prior to the race to ensure that all craft and crew conform to the rules and conditions as specified.
